Ken Markman is the managing partner and CEO of KKM Global Brand Strategies, a brand strategy, marketing and licensing management company meeting the worldwide demands of brand owners and entertainment companies.
 
KKM clients include Medical Groups, Government agencies, Research firms, Designers, Investment bankers, Adverting agencies and entertainment studios and media companies: Universal, Warner Bros. Digital, Content Films Europe, FOX, MGM, Paramount, and SONY Entertainment and animation companies from the US, Europe and Asia.

Markman’s wide-range of expertise crosses the boundaries of Brand Strategies, Entertainment Marketing, Advertising and Licensing Consumer Products. He has served in senior management positions at Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox, MTM Entertainment, Mattel, J. Walter Thompson USA and Dino De Laurentiis Corporation. His has created the marketing campaigns for many successful and culturally defining motion pictures including “The Empire Strikes Back”, “E.T.”, and “Scarface” and he has managed and represented licensing programs from Barbie and Curious George to The Weather Channel, MGM/Pink Panther/Robocop and FOX Avatar to SONY “Ghostbusters” and D.C. Comics.

He has generated brand licensing revenue in excess of $2 billion, marketed or licensed the rights to over 450 motion pictures and hundreds of hours of television and cable programming, and received numerous awards for Best trademark licensing program, corporate Identity design programs and advertising campaigns.



Markman is the recipient of the “Outstanding Instructor Award in Entertainment Studies and Performing Arts” at UCLA Extension where his classes include “Marketing Entertainment: Strategies for the Global Marketplace” and “Entertainment Licensing” in conjunction with LIMA (the International Licensing IndustryMerchandisers’ Association.

For seventeen years he has written, compiled and edited the definitive Academic Reader, Entertainment Marketing from UCLA Publishing.

He is widely published in domestic and international licensing, legal journals and Internet postings. Articles include: “The Advent of Brand Culture,” “Movies, Myths and Messages,” and “The M Gen.” He is a keynote speaker at international trade seminars, universities, broadcasting, media and legal councils.
 
He is a frequent speaker and lecturer at:

Markman is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, the Academy’s Animated Motion Picture Committee and UCLA’s Advisory Board for Entertainment, Business and Management. He served as an Officer and Director of the Board of the Licensing Industry Merchandisers Association (LIMA) and created its first corporate identity program and Internet exchange. He is an expert witness on matters of intellectual property and rights of publicity.

Currently, Markman is writing a book titled, “BrandCulture…How brands and their messages are setting the New Cultural Agenda”.
